Hey Kara, Its Your Birthday!

"Hey Kara, its your birthday! Im in charge of the stars and Im here to say, HEY KARA, youre the big star today! My name is Zoom and I live on the moon but I came down to Earth just to sing you this tune, cuz Kara, its your birthday TODAY! Happy Birthday Kara, see you next yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!"

Its been a while since I have updated this baby. Its been a busy time for me....working, trying to find more work, birthdays, Christmas, and of course wedding planning. Ive also been trying to help Ryan study for the DAT's which he takes this Saturday at 7am!!! A lot has happened since then. Kara celebrated her 20th bday. That little song above is the one my mom used to play her from a cassette that we had when we were little. I still sing it to Kara every bday.

Thanks to all my sorority sisters who have commented about my blog. I miss you all so much and I figured this would be a good way to keep tabs on me...Im hoping you all follow suit. :)

This past weekend, Ryan and I, his parents, his older brother Scott and Scott's girlfriend, Melissa all went up to visit Lance, their younger brother in Chicago. Lance plays basketball for Aurora. So we all headed north for his game and celebrated Ryan's Dad's (Don's) 60th birthday! Fun times! So Ive posted some pics to catch everyone up with what has been going in our lives this past month. Enjoy!

"Orange Slide Park"

Ryan and I took Drew Davis to the "orange slide park" on Friday. We had a lot of fun with our Drew Bug. He had a ball...playing tag with Ryan, racing down the big hill, and climbing big trees. Of course, he dominated Ryan in it all. ;)

E-DAY Eve

Today is not just another day. Do you know who you are going to vote for? Do you know why? And do you know how? Know this. As a citizen of the USA, it is not only your right, it is your duty to vote in this election. Know when you are casting your ballot tomorrow that you are standing on the shoulders of our grandmothers. Just 100 years ago, we women would not be allowed to vote. Now the history teacher in me feels as though I need to educate our generation today on this and also pay tribute to those women who gave us the opportunity to cast our vote tomorrow.

Now if you know me, you know I can't forget the minorities. Just 50 years ago, African Americans and other minorities could not cast their ballot for their own country. They could fight in a war, they could die for their country. But they could not vote. To commemorate all those who battled for their basic Civil Rights including the right to vote, I have included a clip from the March on Washington and the "I Have A Dream" speech. No matter your choice of candidate, you have to admit, its pretty incredible how much our country has progressed in such little time. Just the mere fact that Barack Obama has the opportunity to be President of the US, is incredible. He wouldn't have this same opportunity 50 years ago, 20 years ago, 5 years ago. So being a minority and a woman, I am twice as thankful.

So tomorrow, remember those who have given you the opportunity to be there. Don't take this responsibility lightly. Educate yourself. For one night, turn off Mtv's Hills, BET 106 & Park (in my case), your fantasy football league (Ryan's case) and turn on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC. Know what issues are important to you. But today know that with freedom comes responsibility. Be responsible. VOTE..."however you like."

YOU CAN VOTER HOWEVER YOU LIKE

Happy Candy Day

I know some Mexicans who dont understand the concept of Halloween so they just call it Dia de los Dulces. I like that name better. So to celebrate Candy Day, Ryan and I took Jake Davis to the pumpkin orchard on Thursday. I am watching one of the boys once a week now so Missy can spend some more one-on-one time with them (and me too:) Of course Jake had to pick the largest pumpkin in the bunch. It was bigger than him. We had fun with our little Jakey....and found out some secrets about Daddy and Uncle Carl too...hehe.

Ryan and I carved a pumpkin of Bailey. Sade, I know you will especially appreciate this.

My friend Lauren's little girl, Ayva came to visit! Precious little Bee!And my flower girl Ella was a little Mouse...I think she should wear this to the wedding.

So to finish this post off, I thought it might be nice to leave you all with a little "treat." Here is a clip from Disney's Halloween Special from when I was little. I probably had my mom play this for me 9,762 times throughout the year...Tita has always been a sucker for Disney. Happy Candy Day!

I'm sorry Kara, I've started a Blog

Despite unpopular demand (from KLV) I started a blog. I've caught the bug. Without full-time teaching now, I need a purpose. A way to express myself. So, here you go. You're welcome America.

So to make it up to you, I will post your artwork as the first official picture of this blog. Congrats. PS. Thank you for this lovely drawing. I loved it!

In the meantime of Kara making fun of me for my new hobby, I have been researching good music. A-beacause I like music. B-I haven't found that "it" song for Ryan and I to dance to for our first official dance as Mr. and Mrs. Robinson. Here are a few I have found that I really like. And some just for fun. Your feedback is encouraged.
